How does the vehicle tracking system work?
The installed module combines GPS and modem functions. The GPS is used to geolocate the vehicle, while the modem is used only to transmit the data collected by the module to our web-based platform. The information can be transmitted over the cellular network or by satellite.
Once the information has been transmitted, it is sent to a dedicated server in a secure hosting centre and then transmitted to your ORCA application.
How long after purchasing a Geothentic fleet management solution can I expect to see a return on investment?
Every situation is different, but you can generally expect to see a return on investment almost immediately.
Can I use my cellphone to track my fleet?
You can view your fleet if your cellphone has an Internet connection. The ORCA application is fully web-based, so there’s no software to install. The application is available on your computer, tablet or phone.
How long does it take to install a geolocation box?
Portable versions are available that require no installation. It generally takes between one and two hours to fully install a fixed version, depending on the vehicle and the options chosen.
Do I have to use a professional installer?
No installation is required if you use the mobile version. We will be glad to refer you to one of our certified installers if you choose the fixed version.
Where in the vehicle is the box placed?
Because the system is also an effective antitheft product, the box is completely hidden in the vehicle.
What is involved in maintaining the system?
The system is designed to allow all updates to be made remotely using the code from the box and the web-based software. Software updates are transmitted to your modules or interface automatically and transparently as soon as they become available.
Can I transfer a box from one vehicle to another?
A box can be transferred from one vehicle to another.
What happens if the box fails?
The vehicle is unaffected. If the system stops operating, simply contact our customer service department and we will take care of the problem.
What do I do if my driver goes over the configured speed limit and I’m not at my computer?
The system will notify the driver by triggering a powerful 90-decibel audible alert. The alert will stop when the driver slows down to 5 km/h below the configured limit. All alerts are automatically saved in the ORCA software and can be sent by email or text message.
Does ORCA work even if the vehicle is in an area without cellular coverage?
The ORCA system is specifically designed for remote areas because it uses a universal SIM card. If it loses a cellular connection, it records the data and transfers them when the connection is restored. No data is lost whether your vehicles are in northern Quebec or Montréal. Your reports are always complete and reliable. The dual mode option is ideal if your headquarters are in a remote area: the system alternates between a satellite connection and a cellular connection, whichever is available.
Is the platform available in more than one language?
Because ORCA is produced entirely in Quebec, the system’s main language is French. Now that it’s available on five continents, it’s offered in four other languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic. Depending on your preferences at the time, you can change the language of use whenever you log in.
Is the platform easy to use?
The system is easy to use. You can track and manage your vehicles online through a web interface. All route, prolonged idling, speeding and other important information is available to you online. Maintenance is also managed over the Internet.
There’s no software to install; just access the web page and that’s all there is to it!
In addition to being a comprehensive system, ORCA is very easy to use. Any report can be generated within three clicks, and automatic reports can be programmed. Every ORCA client can also take advantage of free training from the vendor, as well as telephone support from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
Do you offer high-quality customer service in French?
Our customer service team is easy to reach and at your disposal from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Whether you speak French, English, Spanish or Arabic, a sympathetic ear is always there to listen. Training is always free of charge and can be provided at your offices or over the phone.
Is your system affordable?
The system is affordable whether you have one or multiple vehicles. With low up-front costs and competitive installments, we can adapt to your budget. If required, up-front costs can be financed. Still not sure? Try it out!
Is it really possible to reduce my fleet’s fuel consumption?
The price of gas may not go down, but fuel expenses can. The engine shut-off and speed alert options help to considerably reduce gas-related financial losses.
Our patented engine shut-off system can be programmed to automatically turn off an idling engine. For example, on average, a delivery vehicle spends 30 to 40% of its time idling, and the engine shut-off reduces this unnecessary vehicle use to 10%, a difference of $175/month per vehicle in your pockets.
As for the speed alert, it allows you to limit the vehicle’s maximum driving speed, in addition to improving your company’s image on the road.
You can also determine which vehicle in your fleet is closest to a given location to better dispatch your vehicles to meet client requests, saving you gas and time in the process.
How can I prove how long was spent at a client’s location compared with what was billed?
In order to know what to bill a client, it’s important to know how long your employees worked at that location. The ORCA geolocation system can provide a variety of reports. Whether you want to know the routes a vehicle took on a given day, how many kilometres it travelled, the periods it spent idling or the speed at which it travelled, the possibilities are almost endless.
I don’t want my drivers to use their vehicles outside of work hours. Is it possible to limit their use?
Sometimes simply telling employees they aren’t authorized to use vehicles outside of office hours isn’t enough, especially when they take the vehicles home in the evening and over the weekend. You can be notified by email every time a vehicle is used without authorization. And if you’re concerned about an employee leaving the work area without your consent, you can also be notified of that.
Stop worrying: your equipment is safe now.
